Home Grown Food

We grow our own food primarily as a hobby and way of life. It is a fabulous way to feed our family better quality meals and at the same time teach our children where food really comes from.

MAIN GARDEN

Our garden is about 72′ x 46′ with 13 long mounded rows, surrounded by deer fencing. We grow a variety of produce including tomatoes, onions, peas & squash.

AQUAPONICS

We have more growing options with the help of our greenhouse and aquaponics system. We are able to extend our growing season, as well as grow things, such as okra, that prefer warmer temperatures.

PROTEIN

The majority of our chickens are used for their egg making skills. We also raise them for meat. Other meat grown on our farm is pork and fish.

BAKING, CANNING & PRESERVING

There always comes the time near the end of summer when we have to figure out what to do with all the extra produce from the garden. Some of our kitchen tasks are baking zucchini bread, canning salsa and pickles & freezing broccoli & corn.
