Birds of 2013: Week 23
One day the kids & I went to a wetlands area & spotted a Killdeer nest with eggs. We found it most peculiar that they would lay eggs right in the middle of a path, but apparently that’s normal for them.

Today is the last day of Great Blue Heron Week in Portland, so it seems fitting to do a post with Blue Heron pics. I love these birds & am happy to say that I have seen quite a few of them lately. Here are a few of my favorite Heron pics I’ve taken over …
I went to a Wetlands area one day & saw so many great things that the next day I went back & brought my boys with me. Here’s just a smattering of birds we saw over those two days.

This winter I took part in Project FeederWatch for the first time. It is a citizen science project that is easy to do & is done right in your own backyard. I had many bird feeders set up & recorded which birds came to the feeders every Monday & Tuesday. I wasn’t glued to the …
I love Red-tailed Hawks. They are a beauty & a nice change of scenery from the small sparrows & juncos I typically see.
