Recently we went on a road trip & a few of my ideas for keeping the kids busy in the car included cookie sheets from the Dollar Store & as many magnetic games/things I could reasonably bring with us. The Dollar Store had magnetic coins & bills! I thought, “what a great find,” and at a fabulous price. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them, but I thought for sure the kids would enjoy them. I ended up making worksheets for each of my kids at their individual math level.
MAGNETIC COINS & BILLS
COUNTING PENNIES
Farm Girl doesn’t fully understand counting money yet. But, pennies are easy since they are counting by 1’s. To complete this worksheet you simply place a penny in each circle, counting as you go.

COUNTING MONEY
Farm Kid2 is working on counting coins & bills to make certain amounts of money, so his worksheets focused on that concept.

MAKING CHANGE
Farm Kid1 can count money just fine, but needs practice counting back change. On his worksheets the price tag shows how much the item costs. The green bills are the ones the customer used to pay. Farm Kid1’s job is to count out the change that should be given back to the customer.

The kids didn’t end up using these worksheets a ton on the road trip, but I’m pretty sure they did enjoy them at least a little. So, I will get them out occasionally for more practice. I still think the magnetic money is awesome!
