The middle of July is already upon us, which means it’s Bloom Day. We had an unusually hot, dry June, which put the flowerbeds ahead of their usual schedule. We’ve been watering enough to keep the plants alive, but maybe not enough to keep them happy and producing their best. We’re already at the point …
Going on a 2 week vacation in spring pushed back a bit of our gardening. We got a later start & we didn’t start as many things from seed as we typically do. So, we have a little less planted than most years, but I’m sure we will have plenty to harvest.
This is my 5th year participating in the Great Backyard Bird Count & for the first time the weather was great. We have had a very mild winter & it seems spring is arriving early. Unfortunately, it was a busy weekend & I didn’t get to look for birds as much as I had hoped

Central Oregon is full of beautiful sites to see & places to explore. Here’s a list of just a handful of things to see:
Over the summer, the kids & I went to the Tualatin Heritage Center for the first time. It is a small museum with only a few exhibits. We had a great visit. The woman inside was very helpful and informative. She answered my children’s unending questions.
This spring we began installing a pond in an area of the Bird Village that has always been problematic. I worked on it in the cool mornings of summer & it’s finally complete.
